What We Do // Parent Coaching and Personal Coaching

Parent coaching is a valuable source of support to all parents not just those who have adopted their children. Coaching allows parents to find their own solutions for their family – from tweaking the routine a bit to getting a better balance between work, home and family commitments.

Parenting children who have been separated from their birth family can bring additional challenges. AdoptResources brings an attachment perspective to its parent coaching programme to help build  and strengthen family relationships before moving on to any specific challenges. Working through the child’s timeline and the impact of early experiences helps parents to find solutions that are right for their family.

Personal Coaching is useful in general situations not necessarily linked to parenting – this could be managing the, often sudden, change in working circumstances adoption can bring; working through any issues of loss highlighted by the adoption process; to getting back to work – getting your balance right.

Coaching can help with:

  • making sense of the thinking about stage
  • getting the most out of the preparation process
  • smooth transitions at the time of placement
  • being the parent you want to be
  • getting your family routine right
  • the work/life/family juggle
  • family relationships
  • managing contact
  • moving on from disruption

Coaching can be offered one-to-one or in a small group setting. Coaching can be delivered face to face or by phone. If you want to find out more about coaching email info@adoptresources.co.uk phone 0844 3303519 or book a complementary 30 minute taster session.
